The expansive plane, as our scientists have called it, extends for millions of miles in each direction from the origin. Although there are rumors that the expansive plane is circular, many believe that it is in fact cubic instead. Pardon the confusion, allow me to explain in more detail of what I am trying to explain.
Unlike the first or second earth that humans have inhabited for thousands of years during various points in our history, we eventually discovered something unusual at the bottom of a certain space. There were bubbles of atmospheres across a long expansive plane that was made mostly of unknown rocks. Eventually humans across the universe came and cultivated the atmosphered areas, which were usually about the size of first earth China. Throughout the years we have also discovered that humans from different earths have evolved in different ways, and of course, like a human tradition, war broke out. Let me explain a bit more about Altus, the place that I was born and raised.
Pardon my manners, my name is Ren Akon, and I am a soldier/pilot of an Altus legion. On the expansive plane, there are many different countries, our scientists have found the origin, but there is something odd about it that we can't figure out yet... many of our older leaders went there to try and conquer it but none of them returned and are presumed to be dead. So the plane was divided into four sectors, based on a flat surface, it is much like a coordinate plane. Altus is in sector I, II, and barely in III. Sector IV, however, is inhabited by the fearsome Dregor. We don't know much about the Dregor or their country known to us as Dregora, but we have been fighting with them on and off for the past twelve hundred years according to my history teacher back at the academy. Altus itself is so big that it has to be divided into three sub countries: Magus, which houses our magicians, and aerial combatants, Altus, which is the core empire, which is where I am from, and Genus, the home of the knights and scientists. Altus is like the executive branch of a government I suppose. They decide when to go to war, and how to handle the empire throughout the entire expansive plane. Genus is known for keeping our technology cutting edge, and also they are one half of our foreign relations department, sharing the other have with Magus, which is a third of our military strength, our tap into manna. [Odd for first earth humans who haven't had manna or any magical abilities.] Magus also helps with one half of our economy.
It was right after my promotion to head of Matia, one of the three military branches of Altus, that a horrible message reach the ears of the king. Magus had begun a war with Altus, a rebellion was at hand...
"Sire! The Magus fleets have already moved towards our borders, and are getting closer to our outer cities, we need to act now if we are to save the civilians!" One of Altus's generals spoke, drawing the lines of the battle plan on a digital map screen. Clearly, the red units were Magus fleets, including one of their special legions, Naphar. It was a sticky situation for the Altus elites who were planning the attack against Magus. "Ren, we need you to take head of Matia, you are the only one who knows of this yet and you can moblize the fastest!" The general said turning to the commander of Matia, Ren Akon. "I shall do my duty sir..." came the humble reply, but it also came with a sense of authority, out of the three branches of military, Matia was the most prestigious and well known. Ren was a young man, six feet tall, slender build and dark brown hair that was medium in length covering part of his eyes. He was quick on his feet, intelligent in strategy and also in general.
The station at Kalatoma was a main capital in Altus. Kalatoma was the second of five palaces, and doubled as a military base. The high white walls were lined with archery troops- and the double gates were reinforced to prevent any ground troops from waltzing in without an arrow or three protruding from their backs. The way combat was set up in the expansive plane resembled much of the military in the first earth medieval era.
