The sister of Ciara, and the daughter of Riona and Ranga Wind. Being the older of the two sisters, Samantha had always felt like she should protect her sister-- no matter what. When she was eleven years old she her life was turned upside down.
The Wind family lived next to the Lunar forest... which was full of demons and other kinds of foul beasts. There had been some sort of odd connection between Ciara and some younger demon named Kale. There had been a horrible prejudice between the demons of the Lunar forest and the humans who dwell next to the forest. So the love between Kale and Ciara could never be... Samantha only wanted Ciara to be safe, she did not hate demons, but found them quite fascinating. She had always lived under a house of the rich and the proper, her parents were nice and loving... but the day she went into the forest to go after her sister, she never returned.
It had been years, and she was thought to be dead by her family... she was lost to the forest, but Samantha Wind did not die- no she had been rescued by a traveler who was passing through the forest. This was her new journey - -
The church had been erected in a time before the forest had been fully inhabited by the demons. The patrons of the church were all robed in silky white robes that covered their faces- they were relegious extremes who did not believe in violence or war. Such behavior had irked the demons to a point where they avoided the church all together. What was the tiny spot of land to them anyway? There was someone else who threatened the church, and he was coming to put an end to them all. The only thing they could do was lock the door and pray to their gods and goddesses to protect them from the evil that threatened their covenant. He came, but he wasn't alone- he had friends who would kill a small child for a pocket of gold.
They were mere bandits, who had entered the forest from the other side who knew little of the demons, but knew that they didn't dare come up to the church and so it would make a perfect base for their operations. There was one man who was not stricken by fear- he was robed in the same white robes as everyone else, and there was a glint in his eye that suggested he might intend on fending them off by himself, but deep down inside he knew that when it came to it, he would make it out alive, even if it meant leaving everyone else behind.
"Do not fear my child..." an old man said next to a young girl, she had just appeared out of nowhere, yet somehow the other church members didn't seem to notice, and the younger man knew this. His senses were keen enough to pick it up and was surprised that she had managed it despite how hard it was for him to get inside of this church without them noticing. He wasn't a true member of their covenant, this was truth. He knew that the girl was not either, but she wasn't like him... she was running away from something, and this was her haven. For him this was just another hell he had to visit before reaching his true destination.
Time slowly faded down to mere moments, which one could barely comprehend. The male priests, in what little dignity they had left, took the time to hide the woman and children followers, including the mysterious girl who had appeared only a few months before. There was a loud banging on the door, and from the tint of the sound, one could tell that it was a rather blunt tool, perhaps a mace or an axe butt. After about two whole minutes of this pounding, a slow but sure creaking arouse and soon the door gave in and there stood six bandits. They were all tall and some of them were large, but they all had muscles the priests lacked. They wore thick leather armors to prove their poverty and they were in desperate need of a bath and a clean shave.
"Well, you all look finely dressed today..." the first bandit said, who was ironically the shortest of them, but definitely had the proper intelligence to be named the leader of this group. "I hope you didn't just clean those..." his words were well founded, for his intention to spill blood was implied. "You could've run away..." he suggested finally, and grabbed the first priest he saw and thrust his sword between his ribcage. Blood poured out onto the white robe and dripped steadily onto the floor. "There... there... your gods and goddesses will embrace you..." the bandit said and that it when the howling began. There was a definite sound of moaning coming from the other priests and they tried to flee. "Now you try to run! What an insult!" the bandit yelled and this is when his comrades came storming out.
The clever man, still robed and for the most part out of the bandit's sight, and quickly followed the woman and children to find that mysterious girl. He knew of an exit that was in the cellar and if he planned on making it, he would have to move quickly, but he couldn't take all of the woman and children they would only get in his way. No-- he only had the intention of saving one of them-- the mysterious girl. He had to be certain she wasn't there for him...
The slaughter of the male priests was still going on when one of the larger bandits began smashing into the other rooms looking for those who might think to hide from the bandits. Although his intelligence wasn't near the grander of his leader- his luck was quite superb in the fact that he found the room housing the woman and children first. He gave a twisted smile before reaching out towards the first one he saw. He grabbed a fairly old lady, and threw her like a rag down out of the room. "I only wants the pretty ones...so they squeal as I smother them children!" he said rather joyfully, and it was during this time that the man robed in white grabbed the mysterious girl by the arm and quickly dragged her out of the room. He found it strange that she didn't even resist his touch, and she followed him now on her own two feet. He didn't speak a word, but continued to pull her along the hallways of the church.
"Where are you going?" one of the bandits asked as the man quickly ran by. A quick pursuit followed and the man had to think fast if he were to save them both. He found the cellar, and quickly removed one of the boxes. "Get inside and follow the tunnel..." he whispered into the girl's ear and she did as she was told climbing down the tunnel and out of sight. The bandit and the man were all alone now and the man didn't move. "Ah... what are you going to do? Fight me like real man?" the bandit taunted and the man smiled, "Well if you want me too..." his voice did not carry very far but something about it made the bandit think for a moment. The other priests had the mind set to take what was coming to them, while this one thought it would be something he might enjoy. "Are you ill?" the bandit asked confused, and waving his axe about. The man shook his head, "But if you want to fight me you can try by all means..." he opened his arms, but something was not right about his robes, the bandit could tell as much. It was at this point that the other bandits came about, not all six, but about three of them. "Still not gonna run?" the first bandit asked and the man shook his head, "I will... don't worry-- I just need to feast my battle lust on one of you fools..." he stated. "Alright, you asked for it!" one of the bandits yelled rushing forward with his axe and the man kicked open the trapdoor with his foot, and jumped down it.
What the bandit did not realize was the unnoticeable speed at which the man had drawn his sword and slashed the bandit's waist successfully dropping his pants to the floor. The other bandits who did not even notice the cut thought it was the other bandits fault and quickly dived down into the tunnel after him. "He's all talk!" one of them roared chasing after what they thought was a clever priest. One of them drew out a bow, with a picture in his mind of dropping the man like a fly. He notched it and then shot dead into the man, but it went straight through his robes, and the shaft then appeared in his hand.
"Ha...he caught it?" the first bandit exclaimed and the archer notched another one, "Luck!" he stated and fired but the blocked it with the shaft he had caught before. "Don't follow him!" the bandit who had been sliced open said falling down the trapdoor. "He gave me a good cut an I didn't even notice!" he showed his comrades his wound and they stared off at the man. "IF he had been a warrior priest he would've saved all of the others... he must have been some third party..." another one said as they stared off in awe at the man who had bested them.
The man had reached the end of the tunnel, yet he found nobody waiting there. "Gods, that girl must not be afraid of the demons in the forest..." he said climbing up the ladder to find her sitting on a log waiting for him to return. She had removed the hood of the white robe, revealing long flowing black hair and keen black eyes that studied him intently. "Who are you?" she asked intently, her hands crossed in her lap and the man removed his own hood and stared at her for a moment. He was tall, slender, yet he was strong and well built. His hair was black, but well trimmed and kept neatly. it hung down the sides of his head and down his neck, and his eyes were gray and unmoving. "My name is...not important..." he muttered and the girl shook her head, "I am not out to get you... but I know your not a priest-- I wont tell anyone that you let those other people die back there..." she said quickly as if trying not to offend him. "I...I don't care, I just wanted to know who you are." he said quietly and the girl shook her head, "No dice buddy... you've got to tell me who you are first!" she stood up, apparently she had lost whatever charm she might' have possessed. "Well... I thought you were some noble born that's all..." he stated quietly, "My name is Ishari, that is all you need to know..." he stated and the girl smiled, "Alright thank you Ishari for rescuing me!" her voice was kinder this time around, and he smiled for a change--
"My name is Samantha...that is all you need to know..." she mocked and he glared at her, "You play a fair game I see..." he stated with a sly smile, "I've never been on an adventure before... I thought I would play a role of one of my favorite characters!" she said and the man nodded "Like who...let me guess... it isn't some pompous noblewoman who gets tossed out of her home into the wild...?" he said raising an eyebrow, "Hey, that some insight you've got there but I was thinking more along the lines of..." she paused for a moment thinking about what he was saying. "Well anyway I never got to finish the story," she said quickly and the man shook his head, "Oh no-- you've got to tell me who you are trying crusade as..." he suddenly stopped. "If you must no--" she stopped as well.
There was an incredibly eerie sound arising from the trees around them, and the man quickly grabbed Samantha and held her close to the ground. She knew it was the forest residents... the demon tribe. The man could tell that she understood what it was that had ended their brief conversation and then he quickly flew with her through the forest. "You lured them with your talking!" he hissed at her and she shook her head, "They know my voice..." she replied, still wrapped up in his arms and finally they made it to a cliff side where they stopped. "What do you mean?" he asked and the girl looked away, she knew what she was smelling on Ishari, human blood. "Your sword..." she said looking down at his well concealed sheath, and the man's eyes widened, he had forgotten the sword all together, and it was approaching nighttime. He drew out the sword, and quickly cleaned it on the grass.
"Stop there..." a voice called out and Ishari stopped moving and then he quickly raised his sword out to one of the trees. "Stay away from me!" he yelled and Samantha remained quickly pressed against his body. "OH... you humans all speak alike don't you?" the voice called and Ishari shook his head. "Open your senses demon!" he said slowly getting Samantha to climb up the cliff. There was a soundless furry, and the demon appeared in front of Ishari, yellow piercing eyes and long pointed ears. It was a female demon, and she was about the same age and height as Ishari. "Oh... I can sense it now... no wonder... you've been around too many humans, Ishari!" the woman spoke and the man backed away to the cliff face. "And what is more... you saved a girl for a snack now did you?" she said and Ishari shook his head, "I do what I want to...Ima, and I wont have you taking her away!" he shouted and Ima shook her head, "Oh no... I am on orders to leave that human alone... "
